Krampus

This was a project I made back in December, to get in the festive mood, but forgot to upload.

What started as a model of a Wendigo, eventually turned into my very own depiction of Krampus. The devilish companion of ol' St. Nick himself. Described as a half-goat, half-demon crature, bearing long claws, horns, a long, viperine tongue and long chains that bind him. Punishing those who are naughty and wicked.
This folkloric Christmas-time legend of unclear origins has always deeply fascinated me, so in the spirit of the holidays, I set out in my own way to create something a bit more... festive?

Ancient depictions of Krampus show him bearing birch branches he uses to beat misbehaved children, and a basket on his back in which he carries the children he takes back to hell with him. However, in my depiction, I chose to instead give him a long staff with a lamp hanging from it, and a large sack chained to his back, stained with dried blood and marked with the sins of those unfortunate enough to have found themselves in it.
